Job Description:
A Senior Accountant in a steel manufacturing company, particularly in industrial hubs like Raipur, manages daily financial operations, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and tax compliance (GST/TDS). They prepare financial reports, reconcile ledgers, ensure GAAP compliance, and often supervise junior staff. Requirements typically include 5+ years of experience and Tally ERP 9/Prime proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Accounting & Inventory: Analyze production costs (raw materials, labor, overhead) to optimize efficiency and manage inventory valuation.
- Financial Reporting & Closing: Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, preparing comprehensive financial statements and balance sheets.
- Taxation & Statutory Compliance: Handle GST filing, TDS calculations, income tax compliance, and statutory audits.
- Reconciliation & General Ledger: Reconcile accounts payable/receivable, bank statements, and maintain the general ledger.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and review the work of junior accountants and bookkeepers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years in accounting, with specific experience in the steel, iron, or manufacturing sector preferred.
- Education: B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) or higher, with CA or inter-CA qualifications often preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Tally Prime, Tally ERP 9, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS, accounting standards, and industrial tax regulations.
