Job Description:
A Chief Security Officer (CSO) at a steel pipes company is a senior executive responsible for industrial safety, asset protection, and operational continuity. They safeguard manufacturing plants, raw materials, and finished goods against theft, labor unrest, and supply chain disruptions while ensuring strict regulatory compliance. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
- Plant & Perimeter Security: Design and implement access controls, CCTV surveillance, and boundary security to prevent unauthorized entry, theft, and pilferage.
- Industrial Vigilance: Develop intelligence networks to anticipate external threats, labor disputes, or operational disruptions.
- Asset Protection: Secure raw materials (scrap, steel coils/plates) and finished steel pipes during storage and transit.
- Emergency Response: Establish and manage safety protocols, incident response teams, and disaster management plans for industrial hazards like fires or accidents.
- Vendor & Material Management: Oversee material movement in and out of the facility using inventory tracking systems, and manage contracted security personnel.
- Liaison & Compliance: Coordinate with local police, fire departments, and government bodies. Ensure compliance with occupational safety and labor laws. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Typically requires 10+ years of experience in industrial security, law enforcement, or military, often with a degree in industrial safety or security management.
