Job Description:
A Shift Incharge in a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) manages daily production operations, safety, and personnel during their assigned shift. Key responsibilities include achieving production targets, monitoring furnace/CCM parameters, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and ensuring strict safety compliance to minimize downtime, often focusing on Induction Furnace operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operational Control: Oversee production processes, including EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) or induction furnaces and continuous casting machines (CCM) to ensure production targets are met.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, assign tasks, and guide operators and workers to maintain efficient workflow, including shift handover management.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g., PPE, PPE, Lockout-Tagout) and maintain a safe working environment.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor production quality to ensure products meet required standards and troubleshoot quality-related issues.
- Maintenance Coordination: Identify technical issues, handle breakdown maintenance, and coordinate with the mechanical/electrical teams to ensure equipment reliability.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, breakdown reports, and shift records.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Typically requires a Diploma in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Generally 7+ years of experience in SMS operations.
- Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities, leadership, communication, and knowledge of steel production machinery.
