Job Description:
A Caretaker for a steel trading company is primarily responsible for the security, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the office, warehouse, storage yards, and machinery. This role ensures a safe and functional environment for storing steel products and for staff to work.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Security & Safety: Locking/unlocking premises, monitoring security systems, conducting daily walkthroughs to check for potential hazards, and ensuring safety standards are met.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Performing minor repairs (carpentry, electrical, plumbing) in offices and warehouse areas.
- Property Upkeep: Cleaning offices, warehouses, and common areas, managing waste disposal, and maintaining the exterior grounds.
- Stock & Inventory Support: Assisting with the oversight of warehouse materials, organizing storage areas, and tracking inventory/supplies.
- Contractor Coordination: Coordinating with vendors or contractors for larger repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Operations Support: Moving materials, managing deliveries, and ensuring proper functioning of machinery or utilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of DIY, maintenance, and repair work.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting, climbing, and standing for long periods.
- Reliability: Trustworthy and dependable personality with high attention to detail.
- Communication: Good verbal skills to report issues to management and interact with staff or contractors.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in maintenance, property management, or industrial caretaking is typically preferred.
