Job Description:
An HR Manager for a steel manufacturing company oversees all human resources operations, specializing in industrial relations, union negotiations, statutory compliance, and safety management. This role involves managing recruitment, training, payroll, and employee welfare in a plant environment, typically requiring 5+ years of experience in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial Relations & Union Management: Manage relationships with labor unions, handle negotiations, and maintain a peaceful industrial environment.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with factory acts, labor laws, safety standards, and statutory obligations (EPF, ESIC).
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Oversee manpower planning, sourcing, and onboarding, especially for technical staff and plant operators.
- Performance Management & Training: Lead performance evaluations and coordinate training programs to enhance worker safety and productivity.
- Payroll & Administration: Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, attendance, and leave management.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of HR management experience, specifically in a manufacturing, plant, or steel production setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of labor laws, excellent conflict resolution skills, proficiency in HR systems (HRIS/Payroll software), and strong leadership abilities.
Common Requirements
- Candidates are often required to be available for factory shifts or on-site management, with commuting distance to the industrial plant.
- Experience handling statutory inspections and liaison with factory inspectors is highly preferred.
