Job Description:
A General Manager (GM) for Ferro Alloys Production in a steel manufacturing company manages the entire plant, focusing on high-temperature furnace operations (submerged arc furnaces) for products like Silico/Ferro Manganese. They are responsible for strategic planning, production efficiency, cost optimization, raw material procurement, safety compliance, and team leadership to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Operational Leadership: Oversee daily plant operations, including raw material batching, furnace charging, tapping, and finishing to maximize yield.
- Process Optimization: Drive efficiency improvements in arc furnace operations, reducing costs and enhancing product quality.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute production strategies, budgets, and operational policies.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure a zero-accident environment and strict adherence to environmental regulations and labor laws.
- Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials and consumables to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor technical and shop floor staff, maintaining high productivity and safety standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 20+ years in ferro alloy production, with significant experience in managing electric arc furnaces.
- Skills: Technical proficiency in metallurgy, strong leadership, analytical skills, and knowledge of Cost Reduction techniques.
