Job Description:
A Weighbridge Operator at a coal washery manages the precise weighing of incoming raw coal and outgoing processed coal vehicles (trucks/wagons), ensuring accurate data entry, computerized weigh ticket issuance, and strict security protocol adherence. Key tasks involve monitoring gross/tare weights, checking for overloads, and maintaining detailed logistics logs.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Weighing Operations: Operate the computerized weighbridge system to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
- Data Entry: Record vehicle numbers, material type, transporter details, gross weight, tare weight, and net weight.
- Documentation: Generate and issue weighbridge tickets, invoices, e-way bills, and transit documents for drivers.
- Inspection: Inspect vehicles to ensure they are empty (tare) or correctly loaded (gross) to maintain, accurately calculating weight.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations, verify that vehicles are within legal limits to prevent overloads, and monitor for unauthorized access.
- Reporting: Compile daily, weekly, or monthly weight reports for management review.
- Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and functional checks of the weighbridge equipment, reporting malfunctions immediately.
- Coordination: Coordinate with logisticians, dispatchers, and truck drivers regarding loading/unloading sequences.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in using computer systems, especially MS Excel or specialized weighbridge software.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in recording data to prevent inventory losses.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with transporters and plant staff.
- Experience: Previous experience in a mining, coal, or industrial setting is typically preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work long hours, often in a noisy or vibrating environment.
Working Conditions:
- Continuous shift roster, including night shifts, due to the 24/7 nature of washery operations.
- Exposure to coal dust and environmental conditions.
