Job Description:
The Senior Manager/AGM – HR & Admin will serve as the strategic lead for all Human Resources, Industrial Relations, and General Administration functions at the manufacturing plant. The role is responsible for ensuring a harmonious work environment, enforcing statutory compliances under the Factory Act, managing labor union negotiations, driving talent management, and streamlining plant administration to support production targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industrial Relations (IR) & Union Management
- Union Negotiations: Lead negotiations with labor unions for long-term settlements, wage agreements, and charter of demands.
- Grievance Handling: Actively manage employee grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions to maintain industrial peace.
- Liaison: Maintain proactive liaison with factory inspectors, police, labor commissioners, and other local government authorities.
2. Statutory Compliance & Legal
- Factory Acts: Ensure strict adherence to the Factory Act, 1948, Minimum Wages Act, and state-specific labor laws.
- Statutory Returns: Oversee timely filing of returns related to PF (Provident Fund), ESI (Employee State Insurance), Bonus, and Gratuity.
- License Management: Manage the renewal and compliance of Factory License, Contractor Licenses, and environmental regulations.
3. Talent Management & Recruitment
- Manpower Planning: Develop and execute manpower budgets in collaboration with plant operations.
- Recruitment: Manage end-to-end recruitment for both shop-floor (blue-collar) and staff (white-collar) employees.
- Onboarding & Induction: Lead induction programs to integrate new hires into the company culture.
4. Performance Management & Training
- Appraisal System: Implement and monitor KRA/KPI-driven performance appraisal systems.
- Training & Development: Identify training needs, especially for safety, technical skills, and compliance.
5. Administration & Facility Management
- Factory Upkeep: Supervise housekeeping, security, canteen services, and guest house management.
- Transport & Logistics: Manage the company's vehicle pool for staff and logistics movement.
- Asset Management: Oversee maintenance of factory premises, utilities, and company assets.
6. Compensation & Benefits
- Payroll Processing: Oversee attendance, shift management, and timely payroll processing, including contractor billing.
- Employee Welfare: Drive employee engagement activities to boost morale.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: PG Degree/Diploma in HR/Personnel Management/Social Work (MSW/MLW) or an MBA in HR. A law degree (LLB) is highly preferred.
- Experience: 10–15+ years of experience in HR & Admin, with at least 5 years in a senior role within a heavy engineering, steel, or pipe manufacturing plant.
- Key Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of labor laws and statutory compliance.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Leadership ability to handle a diverse workforce.
- Proficiency in SAP (HR modules) or similar ERP systems.
