Job Description:
A Loader Operator in a steel pipe manufacturing company is responsible for safely and efficiently operating front-end loaders or forklifts to move raw materials, steel coils, scrap, and finished pipe products within the yard or manufacturing facility. This role requires high attention to detail to handle, load, and stack heavy, fragile, or long materials properly for shipment or production.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Load and unload steel pipes, coils, scrap, and other materials from trucks, trailers, and trains.
- Yard Management: Organize pipe storage in the yard, ensuring materials are stacked securely and in accordance with inventory systems.
- Production Support: Transport raw materials to the production line and move finished pipes to the loading area.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance (checking fluids, grease, tires, hydraulic systems) on the loader.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE, monitoring surroundings for ground crew, and reporting hazards.
- Safety & Compliance: Verify heat numbers, wall thickness, and grade of pipes to ensure accurate, compliant shipments.
- Cleanup: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including loading bays and storage yards.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating a front-end loader or similar heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, crane-mounted truck).
- Certification: Valid operator's license or certification for front-end loader operation.
- Driver's License: Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
- Physical Strength: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, often lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying at least 50 lbs regularly.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is usually preferred.

- Spatial Awareness: Excellent hand-eye coordination for precise maneuvering in tight spaces or high-traffic areas.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track inventory and read load charts.
- Communication: Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and truck drivers.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Predominantly outdoors in all types of weather, or inside a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
- Schedule: Often involves long hours, rotating shifts, and weekends, particularly during high-production periods
