Job Description:
A Cone Crusher Fitter in a steel pipes manufacturing company (specifically within the raw material handling or captive power/furnace area) is responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of secondary or tertiary cone crushers, conveyors, and related hydraulic equipment. They ensure continuous, uninterrupted material crushing, crucial for coal handling or ore reduction in steel production.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance (PM): Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the crusher, including checking oil quality, replacing lubricating oil, cleaning filters, and monitoring for unusual vibrations or noises.
- Wear Parts Replacement: Dismantle, remove, and replace worn components such as the mantle (movable cone liner) and concave (fixed bowl liner) to maintain optimal particle size (CSS - closed-side setting).
- Breakdown Repairs: Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues, identifying the root cause of failures, and repairing conveyors, pulleys, gearboxes, and screen assemblies.
- Alignment and Assembly: Assemble new mechanical components, ensuring precise alignment of the main shaft, eccentric assembly, and drive system.
- Hydraulic System Care: Maintain the hydraulic system responsible for adjustment and tramp metal protection, including cleaning hydraulic circuits, checking oil pressure (0.08–0.15 MPa), and ensuring the accumulator is properly charged with nitrogen.
- Fabrication and Welding: Perform minor fabrication, gas cutting, or arc welding on structures, chutes, and liners.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, safety protocols, and maintain cleanliness (5S) in the high-dust crushing area.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance, preferably within a steel plant, mining, or mineral processing environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven experience with crusher repair (specifically hydraulic or spring cone crushers) and conveyor systems.
- Skills: Proficient in mechanical fitting, reading technical drawings/blueprints, hydraulic systems troubleshooting, and basic welding.
- Education: ITI in Fitter Trade, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent vocational training.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and operate in hot/dusty environments.
