Job Description:
A 1st Class Boiler Operator specializing in Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB) and Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion (AFBC) typically manages high-pressure steam generation in industrial settings like steel or power plants. Based on recent job listings in Chhattisgarh, India (2026), this role involves operating and maintaining complex, high-pressure steam systems to ensure continuous production and safety.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Boiler Operation & Monitoring: Safely operate, start up, and shut down high-pressure boilers (WHRB/AFBC) and auxiliary equipment to maintain steam pressure and water levels.
- DCS/Control Panel Management: Monitor and optimize boiler parameters (temperature, pressure, flow) via Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLC panels.
- Water Treatment: Manage DM/RO plant operations, monitor de-aerator systems, and test water quality to prevent scale and corrosion.
- Fuel & Ash Handling: Oversee fuel feeding systems, including coal or waste gas, to ensure efficient combustion.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and emergency repairs on valves, pumps, and boiler components.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) and plant safety protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logs of operations, maintenance activities, and instrument readings.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Valid 1st Class Boiler Attendant/Operator Certificate.
- Experience: 2–8 years of experience, preferably in a steel, sponge iron, or captive power plant.
- Technical Skills: Experience with WHRB, HRSG, and AFBC technology; knowledge of DCS operation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in high-heat environments and perform physically demanding tasks.
