Job Description:
A Fabrication Production Engineer in a fabrication plant oversees daily production, ensuring structural/heavy metal fabrication projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Key responsibilities include planning production schedules, supervising welding and cutting processes, optimizing workflow to reduce lead times, managing staff, and ensuring safety compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Planning: Develop daily/weekly fabrication schedules, sequence operations, and monitor production status to meet deadlines.
- Fabrication Supervision: Supervise cutting, bending, welding, machining, and assembly processes, ensuring adherence to technical drawings and blueprints.
- Quality & Safety Control: Ensure all fabricated components meet quality standards, conduct inspections, and adhere strictly to safety and housekeeping standards.
- Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot fabrication issues, and implement techniques to reduce manufacturing lead times and optimize material usage.
- Resource Management: Manage production crews, assign tasks, and maintain machinery through predictive/preventative maintenance.
- Documentation: Review and maintain production records, documentation, and technical drawings (e.g., AutoCAD).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: Usually 2–5 years in a heavy fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints, welding processes, and AutoCAD.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, team leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure.
