Job Description:
A Senior Dispatch Manager in a steel manufacturing company is responsible for overseeing the entire finished goods logistics process, ensuring that steel products (TMT bars, coils, ingots) are dispatched on time, safely, and accurately from the plant to customers. This senior role involves coordinating between production, sales, and logistics teams, managing transporters, and ensuring strict documentation compliance (invoices, E-way bills).
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch Planning & Operations: Coordinate daily dispatch schedules (tonnage per day) based on production output and customer orders.
- Logistics & Transporter Management: Liaise with transport vendors, negotiate freight rates, assign vehicles, and monitor vehicle movement for on-time delivery.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure 100% accuracy in legally compliant paperwork, including Delivery Challans, Tax Invoices, E-Way bills, Lorry Receipts (LR), and Gate Passes.
- Inventory & Loading Supervision: Collaborate with warehouse teams to reconcile stock levels, manage inventory of Finished Goods (FG), and supervise safe loading of steel products to prevent damage or shortages.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of dispatch executives, supervisors, and helpers, ensuring safety standards are followed during operations.
- ERP/System Management: Update dispatch status, stock levels, and inventory transactions in ERP systems (SAP MM/SD module, Tally, or similar).
- Customer Liaison: Communicate with sales teams and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Analyze transport data to minimize costs, optimize loading, and submit daily/monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (Commerce/Engineering preferred) or a relevant field.
- Experience: 8-12+ years in logistics/dispatch, with specific experience in the steel, TMT, or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP (SD/MM), Tally, and MS Office (specifically Excel).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of transporter negotiation, E-way bill compliance, and freight billing processes.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving under pressure, excellent negotiation skills, and high attention to detail.
Typical Compensation (For Roles in Chhattisgarh/Raipur area)
- CTC ranges roughly between ₹3.00 LPA to ₹8.00 LPA, depending on experience, with premium roles paying higher for candidates with 10+ years of experience.
