Job Description:
A Mechanical Foreman in a steel manufacturing company supervises maintenance, repair, and installation of heavy industrial machinery (e.g., blast furnaces, rolling mills, conveyors) to minimize downtime. Key roles include leading teams, ensuring safety compliance, executing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting breakdowns. Requires 4–15 years of experience in SMS or rolling mills, plus strong hydraulic/gearbox expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Execution: Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on heavy industrial machinery like hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and conveyors.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate mechanical technicians/craft workers during shifts and shutdowns, fostering discipline and accountability.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols (PPE, lock-out/tag-out) and ensure a safe, clean working environment.
- Planning & Scheduling: Coordinate daily maintenance tasks and communicate updates to management.
- Technical Inspection: Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repairs.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment failures and implement prompt, effective solutions to reduce downtime.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 10 to 15 years in mechanical maintenance within a steel plant, SMS (Steel Melting Shop), or rolling mill.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, refractory lining, and conveyor systems.
- Education: ITI, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Tools: Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and MS Office.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Stamina: Capable of working at heights or in confined spaces, lifting up to
