Job Description:
The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager by ensuring that the chain's production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and according to quality standards across all units. They are responsible for implementing production schedules, overseeing daily operations, managing personnel, and addressing technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Execution: Assisting in preparing production schedules, timelines, and budgets to ensure products are completed before deadlines.
- Operational Oversight: Supervising day-to-day operations on the shop floor, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Quality Control & Compliance: Monitoring product quality to ensure company standards are met, and enforcing safety and health regulations (e.g., GMP/ISO).
- Inventory & Material Management: Checking inventory levels and coordinating with the procurement team to place orders for raw materials and equipment.
- Team Leadership: Training, scheduling, and supervising production staff (supervisors and laborers) to achieve productivity targets.
- Reporting & Data Analysis: Creating and maintaining reports on production status, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and identifying bottlenecks for process optimization.
- Troubleshooting: Addressing production disputes, machine malfunctions, and quality issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Industrial), Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–6 years of experience in production or manufacturing, with previous experience in a supervisory or assistant role preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing machinery, inventory systems, and ERP/SAP systems.
Essential Skills
- Leadership & Communication: Ability to manage large teams and liaise with other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Decisive action in handling production bottlenecks or raw material shortages.
- Analytical Ability: Understanding of production costing, cycle time, and wastage reduction.
- Time Management: Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Production target attainment.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- First Pass Yield (FPY) / Quality compliance rate.
- Reduction in waste/scrap rate.
- On-time delivery percentage.
