Job Description:
An IT/Support Officer installs, configures, and maintains computer systems, networks, and software, providing crucial technical support to users via phone, remote access, or in-person. They troubleshoot hardware/software faults, manage user accounts, document issues, and ensure operational security.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide 1st/2nd line support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Installation & Maintenance: Set up, configure, and update workstations, printers, and peripheral equipment.
- System Administration: Manage user accounts, active directory, security patches, and data backups.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose system errors, network issues, and software bugs, providing timely solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain records of hardware/software inventory, service tickets, and technical procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; sometimes an associate degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are accepted.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Windows/Mac OS, networking fundamentals, and Microsoft Office/365.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, patience, problem-solving abilities, and customer service skills.
- Experience: Previous experience in IT support or help desk roles is commonly required.
