Job Description:
An Incharge Shift Operations for a steel manufacturing company manages daily production, safety, and personnel within a specific shift to meet targets, specifically in areas like SMS (Steel Melting Shop), DRI (Direct Reduced Iron), or rolling mills. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, monitoring process parameters (furnace/casting), troubleshooting equipment, ensuring SOP compliance, and maintaining production logs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Production Management: Responsible for achieving daily shift targets for production quantity and quality.
- Operational Control: Monitor and adjust process parameters in the furnace, casting machines, or converters (SMS/DRI) to ensure efficient operation.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, including LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) and housekeeping standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and allocate tasks to technicians, operators, and helpers.
- Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance teams to address equipment breakdowns and perform preventive maintenance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed shift logs, production reports, and ensure proper shift handover.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational problems in real-time to minimize downtime.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Metallurgy engineering.
- Experience: Generally 5+ years of experience in steel manufacturing (DRI/SMS/Rolling Mill), with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of furnace operations, raw material handling, and steel casting techniques.
- Skills: Strong leadership, decision-making, interpersonal, and troubleshooting skills.
