Job Description:
A Traffic Manager in logistics optimizes the inbound/outbound movement of goods, managing carrier relationships, freight rates, and route planning to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery. They analyze performance metrics, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Key skills include, but are not limited to, strong communication, proficiency in logistics software, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics Coordination: Manage day-to-day transportation operations, including scheduling, routing, and tracking shipments.
- Rate Negotiation & Optimization: Negotiate contracts with carriers to minimize costs while maintaining service quality.
- Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, fuel efficiency) to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure all transportation activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Communication: Coordinate with internal sales/marketing teams, vendors, and drivers to resolve bottlenecks.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including freight classification, tariffs, and shipping documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5+ years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, and time-management skills.
