Job Description:
A Water Treatment Engineer designs, operates, and maintains systems for purifying, distributing, and treating water/wastewater to meet environmental regulations and health standards. Key duties include conducting water quality tests, developing treatment processes, managing infrastructure projects (pipes, pumps), and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering: Create blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for water/wastewater treatment facilities and systems.
- System Maintenance & Operations: Inspect, troubleshoot, and optimize water filtration, chemical treatment, and pumping systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all water treatment processes meet local, state, and federal environmental standards.
- Data Analysis & Testing: Analyze water samples and process data to evaluate performance, ensuring high-quality output.
- Project Management: Oversee construction projects, manage budgets, and coordinate with contractors, operators, and agencies.
- Process Improvement: Research and implement new technologies for better water sustainability, efficiency, and safety.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Professional experience in water treatment plants, hydraulic modeling, or environmental engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD), modeling software, and Microsoft Office.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Working Conditions
- Often involves a mix of office work (design/reporting) and field work (site inspections/plant visits).
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including technicians, operators, and regulatory authorities.
