Job Description:
A Site Supervisor for building and construction oversees daily on-site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to plans. Key duties include managing subcontractors and laborers, enforcing health and safety protocols, ordering materials, and inspecting work quality. They serve as the primary link between project managers and field staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Site Management: Directing daily work activities, managing site logistics, and ensuring compliance with blueprints and building codes.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforcing OSHA or local safety standards, conducting safety inspections, and resolving hazards.
- Coordination: Organizing subcontractors, laborers, and equipment maintenance to maintain project schedules.
- Quality Control: Inspecting materials and completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Reporting: Providing daily progress reports to project managers regarding milestones, labor, and issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a site supervisor, foreman, or similar construction role.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings, and technical documents.
- Leadership: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse crews.
- Education: A diploma or degree in civil engineering or construction management is preferred, though experience is highly valued.
- Problem-Solving: Critical thinking skills to manage unexpected issues or delays.
Typical Qualifications & Certification
- Relevant safety training or certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
