Job Description:
A Shift Production Incharge in a foundry plant manages daily operations, ensuring production targets are met efficiently while maintaining strict safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO). Responsibilities include overseeing melting, molding, and fettling, supervising shop floor staff, optimizing resource usage, and reporting shift performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Execute production plans (foundry, core shop, fettling) to meet customer orders and delivery timelines.
- Quality Control: Ensure all castings meet specifications, implementing corrective actions to minimize defects, and adhering to quality standards.
- Shift Supervision: Manage manpower deployment, mentor staff, and ensure safe, productive work practices during the shift.
- Safety Adherence: Enforce safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Process Improvement & Maintenance: Monitor equipment performance, coordinate with maintenance for repairs, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Reporting: Prepare daily shift reports detailing production output, quality metrics, and incidents.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 6–8 years in foundry operations (e.g., Cast Iron, SG Iron, Steel).
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sand casting, pattern making, metal melting, and furnace operation.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and team management skills.
