Job Summary
The Foundry Plant Helper is responsible for providing essential support to the production team in a foundry environment, assisting with the manufacturing of metal castings. This role involves performing physical tasks, handling materials, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and following instructions from supervisors to ensure efficient and quality production.

Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials (such as scrap metal and sand) from trucks, machines, and conveyor belts. Use hand tools or operate forklifts (if certified) to move materials and finished products within the facility.
- Molding and Casting Support: Assist in preparing materials and molds for casting, which may include mixing specific ingredients for molding sand and preparing cores. Move molds to and from ovens and pouring areas.
- Pouring Assistance: Provide support during the pouring of molten metal by handling equipment, monitoring gauges and temperatures, and skimming slag from the surface of the molten metal to ensure quality standards.
- Finishing Work: Remove finished goods from casting blocks and perform initial finishing tasks such as breaking up sand molds, removing excess metal (gates, sprues), and using abrasive wheels or hand tools to smooth rough surfaces.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, mopping, and removing debris. Clean casting molds, furnaces, and other equipment to ensure they are ready for the next batch.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles, metal-covered shoes, and respirators.
- General Support: Follow instructions from supervisors and assist with other operational or administrative tasks as needed to maintain smooth operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, bending, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Mechanical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to perform quality checks and follow specific instructions and safety procedures accurately.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Work Environment: Willingness to work in a potentially hazardous environment that involves exposure to high temperatures, noise, dust, and chemicals.
