Job Description:
The job description for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in Refractory Product Manufacturing involves ensuring the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of all electrical systems and equipment used in the high-temperature industrial environment. This role combines general electrical maintenance responsibilities with the specific demands of refractory production processes, such as managing power systems for kilns and furnaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment, and respond quickly to diagnose and repair complex electrical issues (motors, control systems, power distribution) to minimize downtime.
- System Operation & Monitoring: Operate and monitor electrical aspects of production machinery, especially high-temperature equipment like kilns, electric arc furnaces (EAF), and associated control systems (PLCs, SCADA).
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all electrical codes, safety standards (e.g., OSHA, IEC), and company safety protocols (e.g., lock-out/tag-out procedures) to prevent accidents in a hazardous environment.
- Troubleshooting & Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for recurring electrical failures and recommend or implement modifications to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Project Support: Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical components and systems, including upgrades and expansions to the facility's infrastructure.
- Inventory & Documentation: Manage the inventory of critical electrical spare parts and supplies, and maintain accurate documentation and reports of all maintenance activities and system performance metrics.
- Collaboration & Supervision: Coordinate with other engineering and production teams (mechanical, refractory specialists) to ensure seamless operations and provide technical guidance or training to junior technicians and operators.
- Energy Management: Identify and implement initiatives for power consumption reduction and ensure the functionality of emergency power systems (generators, UPS).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or a relevant technical diploma with significant experience).
- Experience: Proven experience as an electrical maintenance engineer in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting, preferably in continuous process plants like refractory, steel, or cement industries.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, control systems (PLCs/SCADA), motor controls, and diagnostic tools (multimeters, thermal cameras).
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; the ability to work under pressure during breakdowns and coordinate with a diverse team.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications like the Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) may be preferred.
