Job Description:
An Accounts Manager in real estate oversees the financial operations of property portfolios and construction projects. They manage budgets, ensure compliance with statutory regulations (like RERA, GST, and TDS), process accounts payable/receivable, and prepare financial statements to support strategic business and investment decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow), handle variance analysis, and generate project profitability reports.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure statutory compliance including GST, TDS, Income Tax, and local state regulations. Manage statutory and internal audits.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop annual budgets, track construction/project expenses against the budget, and manage cash flows.
- Transaction Management: Handle accounts payable/receivable, reconcile bank accounts, process vendor payments, and manage client/broker commissions.
- Real Estate Specific Duties: Monitor escrow accounts, client billing, and revenue recognition. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Professional certifications such as CA, CS, or CPA are often preferred for senior roles.
- Experience: Typically 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience specifically within the real estate or construction industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in advanced MS Excel and real estate-specific accounting software such as Tally, Yardi, or Procore. [1, 2, 3, 4]
