Job Description:
A Ferro Chemist job involves analyzing raw materials (ores, coke) and finished ferroalloys (FeMn, SiMn) for composition, ensuring quality standards, operating instruments (AAS, ICP, Spectrometer), calibrating lab equipment, reporting results to production/management, and supporting process optimization for yield/cost reduction in a steel/ferroalloy plant setting, requiring a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry and experience in metallurgical labs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chemical Analysis: Test raw materials, in-process samples, and final products (e.g., manganese ore, FeMn, SiMn) for chemical composition.
- Instrument Operation: Use and maintain lab equipment like AAS, ICP, Spectrometers, Carbon-Sulphur analyzers, and spectrophotometers.
- Quality Control: Monitor slag, metal recovery, and quality parameters to meet ISO/BIS standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare daily test reports, maintain accurate records, and communicate findings to production teams.
- Process Support: Provide data for process improvements, yield enhancement, and cost reduction.
- Lab Management: Manage lab consumables, maintain calibration, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry (Inorganic/Analytical preferred).
- Experience: 2-5 years in a ferroalloys, steel, or metallurgical plant lab.
- Knowledge: Ferro alloy chemistry, metallurgical testing, quality norms, wet chemistry, and instrumental analysis.
- Skills: Analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and documentation skills.
- Other: Ability to work in shifts.
