Job Description:
A Crane Maintenance Incharge in a steel company manages the upkeep, repair, and safe operation of EOT (Electric Overhead Traveling) cranes and heavy lifting equipment. Key duties include developing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards (OSHA/ASME), and minimizing production downtime.
Core Responsibilities
- Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance plans for EOT cranes, structural rolling mills, and conveyors to prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical (PLC) and mechanical faults in cranes and lead repair teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations (HSE) and statutory requirements to prevent accidents.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and crane performance.
- Inventory Management: Manage spare parts inventory and ensure necessary tools for crane maintenance are available.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Usually requires 8+ years of experience in heavy engineering or steel plant environments.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of heavy lifting equipment, mechanical components (motors, wire ropes, cylinders), and electrical systems.
- Leadership: Ability to lead a team of technicians, fitters, and contractors.
- Qualifications: Typically a diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
