Job Description:
A DCS Engineer in a steel manufacturing company operates and maintains Distributed Control Systems to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot critical production processes like boilers, furnaces, or casting. Key duties involve real-time monitoring of, and responding to, alarms, ensuring safety compliance, and improving plant efficiency. 
 
Core Responsibilities
  • Process Control & Monitoring: Continuously monitor and control steel-making operations via DCS to maintain optimal process parameters.
  • System Maintenance: Install, configure, and troubleshoot DCS hardware and software to ensure high performance.
  • Operational Efficiency: Execute start-up and shutdown procedures, and adjust parameters to maximize production, particularly for boilers and turbines.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve system malfunctions promptly and perform routine maintenance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to strict industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Reporting & Collaboration: Maintain shift logs, prepare technical documentation, and collaborate with maintenance teams. 
     
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in DCS operation, preferably in steel, power plant, or chemical industries.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa).
  • System Skills: Strong knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and PLC programming.
  • Skills: Analytical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and strong communication skills. 
     
Common Areas of Assignment
  • Boiler and Power Plant management.
  • Blast Furnaces / Induction Furnaces.
  • Casting and Rolling Mills. 
     
This role may also function as a Shift Incharge, managing operator teams and reporting to production management.
