Job Description:
A Medical Attendant provides basic patient care, hygiene assistance, and support for daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and mobility, while also monitoring vitals, administering basic medication, and ensuring patient comfort and safety in hospitals or homes, reporting observations to nursing staff and maintaining confidentiality. Key duties involve personal care, medical support (vitals, basic procedures), ensuring a safe environment, and administrative tasks like record-keeping, demanding compassion and strong communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and changing positions to prevent bedsores.
- Mobility Support: Helping patients with walking, transferring (e.g., bed to chair), and physical exercises.
- Medical Assistance: Monitoring vital signs (BP, sugar), administering oral meds/injections, oxygen, nebulization, basic wound care, and collecting specimens.
- Patient Comfort & Safety: Answering call lights, providing food/water, transporting patients, and maintaining a calm, supportive environment.
- Reporting & Documentation: Keeping detailed logs, reporting observations to nurses/supervisors, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Administrative Support (in clinics/hospitals): May involve patient intake, scheduling, and EHR updates.
