Sr. ACCOUNTANT (STEEL PLANT) - GUJARAT

Job Description:

The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations at the plant level, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, taxation compliance, inventory control, and cost accounting related to raw materials, production, and plant operations. The role requires strong knowledge of accounting practices in a steel or heavy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting entries, including journal vouchers, ledgers, and reconciliations

• Prepare and finalize monthly and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)

• Handle inventory accounting including raw materials, consumables, finished goods, and scrap

• Monitor production costing, power & fuel cost allocation, and work-in-progress (WIP) valuation

• Maintain inter-department and inter-unit reconciliation

• Ensure proper accounting of job work, inward & outward movement of materials

• Oversee GST compliance – Input credit, monthly return filing (GSTR-1, 3B)

• Handle TDS deduction, payment, and return filing

• Support internal and statutory audit processes with accurate documentation

• Assist in monthly MIS reporting, variance analysis, and cost review

• Liaise with stores, production, and commercial departments for finance-related inputs

• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with plant-level SOPs

Required Qualifications:

• B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance)

• CA Inter / CMA Inter (preferred for plant roles)

• Proficiency in Tally ERP, SAP (FICO), or plant ERP systems

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting & inventory control

• Familiar with steel plant operations & production accounting

• Excellent skills in MS Excel and data analysis

• Good understanding of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance

• Strong coordination, accuracy, and reporting skills

• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple tasks
