Job Description:
An Assistant Manager, Mechanical is a role focused on supporting the management and execution of mechanical maintenance and engineering activities within a facility or organizationThis position typically involves overseeing maintenance schedules, supervising teams, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Specific duties may vary based on the industry and company but often include tasks related to equipment maintenance, project coordination, and team leadership. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Management:
    Planning and executing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for mechanical equipment, including rotating machinery, static equipment, and pipelines. 
     
  • Team Leadership:
    Supervising and mentoring mechanical technicians and other team members, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and safe work practices. 
     
  • Project Coordination:
    Collaborating with other departments (e.g., production, projects) to schedule and execute maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption to operations. 
     
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Ensuring all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment. 
     
  • Equipment Management:
    Assisting with the installation, commissioning, and modification of plant machinery and systems, as well as maintaining proper inventory of spare parts. 
     
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and performance metrics, contributing to data-driven decision-making. 
     
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction related to mechanical maintenance, participating in relevant initiatives. 
     
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering Knowledge:
    Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment operation, and maintenance principles. 
     
  • Leadership and Communication Skills:
    Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team, communicate technical information clearly, and collaborate with other departments. 
     
  • Problem-Solving Abilities:
    Capacity to diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. 
     
  • Safety Awareness:
    Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to mechanical work. 
     
  • Computer Literacy:
    Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and other relevant software applications. 
     
  • Experience:
    Relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, project management, or a related field, typically ranging from 5-12 years. 
     
In addition to these core responsibilities, the Assistant Manager, Mechanical may also: 
 
  • Review and approve maintenance procedures and checklists.
  • Participate in audits and address non-conformities.
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
