Job Description:
A Mechanical Manager in a DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) plant oversees all mechanical aspects of the plant's operations and maintenance, ensuring the efficient and safe running of the facility. This role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, managing maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Manage:Direct a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to improve their skills and efficiency.

Maintenance Management:Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and schedules for all mechanical equipment to maximize uptime and minimize downtime.

Equipment Reliability:Ensure the reliability and availability of mechanical systems, including identifying and addressing root causes of failures and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Safety and Compliance:Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness within the team.

Budget Management:Prepare and manage the departmental budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.

Production Optimization:Collaborate with other departments to optimize plant production, ensuring mechanical efficiency and minimal energy consumption.

Project Management:Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Documentation and Reporting:Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities and generate reports for performance analysis and improvement initiatives.

Vendor Management:Liaise with external vendors for procurement of spare parts and services, negotiating contracts and managing relationships.
Specific to DRI Plants:

Familiarity with DRI processes:Understanding of the mechanical systems specific to DRI plants, such as rotary kilns, gas handling systems, and material handling equipment.

Optimizing DRI production:Working to improve the efficiency and reliability of equipment involved in the production of DRI, like those in the MIDREX module.

Maintaining equipment uptime:Focusing on minimizing downtime of machinery and systems critical to the DRI production process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and management, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations related to DRI plants.
