Job Description:
This role oversees the preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems in the Coal Handling Plant (CHP) and Raw Material Preparation (RMP) areas. The primary goal is to ensure continuous, uninterrupted raw material and fuel feeding to blast furnaces, sinter plants, and captive power plants. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Core Responsibilities
- Heavy Machinery Maintenance: Maintain HT/LT motors, conveyors, crushers, vibrating screens, wagon tipplers, and stacker-reclaimers. [1, 2]
- Switchgear & Transformers: Troubleshoot and service \(33\text{ kV}\), \(11\text{ kV}\), and \(415\text{V}\) switchgears, HT/LT panels, and power transformers. [1]
- Breakdown & Preventive: Execute daily Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize mechanical and electrical equipment downtime. [1, 2]
- Automation Troubleshooting: Maintain and calibrate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLC panels, and field instrumentation used for material flow control. [1, 2]
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, ensure strict adherence to safety (PPE) guidelines, and issue Permits to Work (PTW). [1, 2]
- Spare Parts Management: Monitor critical electrical spares inventory and raise indents for replacements.
Required Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: \(3\) to \(10+\) years in heavy manufacturing, preferably in a steel plant, cement plant, or coal-based thermal power plant.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of heavy-duty AC/DC drives, slip-ring motors, fault analysis, and sub-station operations. [1, 2, 3, 4]

- Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI): Strict adherence to electrical safety and hazard management.
- Equipment Availability: Maximizing uptime of material conveying and crushing systems.
- Breakdown Reduction: Meeting monthly targets for mean time between failures (MTBF).
- Cost Optimization: Controlling maintenance and replacement budgets. [1]
