Job Description:
A Head of Electrical Engineering (HOD) is a senior-level management position leading the electrical engineering department, overseeing all aspects of engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management abilities. 
 
Key Responsibilities of an HOD Electrical Engineer:
  • Project Management:
    Overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of electrical engineering projects. This includes managing budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. 
     
  • Team Leadership:
    Leading, mentoring, and motivating a team of electrical engineers, technicians, and other staff. This involves assigning tasks, providing guidance, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a collaborative work environment. 
     
  • Technical Expertise:
    Maintaining a high level of technical expertise in electrical engineering principles, practices, and industry standards. This includes designing and implementing electrical systems, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. 
     
  • Strategy and Planning:
    Developing and implementing the electrical engineering department's strategic plans and goals. This includes identifying opportunities for innovation, improvement, and cost savings. 
     
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensuring that all electrical engineering projects and products meet required standards and quality requirements. This includes conducting inspections, testing, and quality control procedures. 
     
  • Client Relations:
    Communicating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure their needs are met and that projects are delivered successfully. 
     
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Ensuring that all electrical engineering activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to all relevant regulations and standards. 
     
  • Cost Management:
    Managing the costs of electrical engineering projects and ensuring that they are within budget. 
     
  • Performance Improvement:
    Identifying areas for improvement in the department's performance and implementing strategies to address them. 
     
  • Innovation and Research:
    Staying abreast of new technologies and trends in the electrical engineering field and exploring opportunities for innovation and improvement. 
     
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering, including project management and leadership.
  • Strong technical skills in electrical systems design, troubleshooting, and testing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
