Job Description:
A Manager, Civil/Structural (Coal Mining) oversees the civil and structural engineering aspects of a coal mine, ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficiency of all structures and facilitiesThis includes planning, design, construction, maintenance, and repairs of all civil and structural elements within the mine and its support infrastructure, such as roadways, buildings, and support structures. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Design:
    Developing and implementing civil and structural engineering plans for new projects, expansions, and modifications.
  • Construction Management:
    Overseeing the construction of new facilities and infrastructure, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality control.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    Managing the maintenance and repair of existing structures, ensuring they are in good working order and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Implementing and enforcing safety protocols related to civil and structural engineering, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Problem Solving:
    Addressing structural issues and failures, developing and implementing solutions to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the mine.
  • Cost Management:
    Developing and managing budgets for civil and structural projects, ensuring projects are completed within budget.
  • Collaboration:
    Working with other departments, such as mining, operations, and environmental, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Documentation:
    Maintaining accurate records of all civil and structural work, including designs, drawings, inspections, and maintenance activities. 
     
Specific Tasks:
  • Site Assessments:
    Conducting site assessments to determine the suitability of locations for new structures or modifications.
  • Feasibility Studies:
    Evaluating the feasibility of new projects, considering cost, safety, and environmental factors.
  • Contractor Management:
    Managing contractors for civil and structural work, ensuring they meet quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Inspections:
    Conducting regular inspections of structures and facilities to identify potential problems and ensure their safety and integrity.
