Job Description:
A Chemist in the coal mining industry typically performs coal analysis, quality control, and may also be involved in waste treatment and chemical testing of input materials. They are responsible for ensuring coal quality meets standards and for the safety of the mine and its environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Coal Analysis:Conducting qualitative and quantitative coal analysis, including proximate analysis, Gross Calorific Value (GCV) and ultimate analysis, and borehole sample analysis.

Quality Control:Ensuring coal quality meets established standards and specifications, including sampling, preparation, and testing.

Waste Treatment:May be involved in the treatment of waste generated by the coal plant.

Chemical Testing:Testing input chemicals, such as those used in the mining or processing operations.

Sample Handling and Preservation:Ensuring proper handling and preservation of coal samples, reagents, and instruments.

Reporting and Documentation:Preparing scientific or technical reports and documenting laboratory procedures and results.

Laboratory Operations:Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, such as bomb calorimeters and TGA instruments.

Safety and Compliance:Adhering to safety protocols and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:

Education:Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
