Job Description:
A Second Class Boiler Operator, also known as a Boiler Attendant, is responsible for operating and maintaining a boiler system, ensuring safe and efficient steam production. They are typically tasked with operating, maintaining, and repairing boilers and related equipment in various settings like power plants, manufacturing facilities, or ships. Key duties include maintaining water levels, steam pressure, burners, and fuel oil, as well as testing instruments and valves.
Key Responsibilities of a Second Class Boiler Operator:
- Operating and Monitoring: Operate boilers and auxiliary equipment, monitoring gauges and meters to track operations.
- Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, cleanings, and repairs to keep boiler systems functioning optimally.
- Water and Fuel Management: Maintain water levels, fuel oil, and monitor chemical and fuel levels.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and manufacturer instructions.
- Testing: Test instruments, valves, and feed water regulators.
- Record Keeping: Record fuel stock and usage.
- Troubleshooting: Address basic technical issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of boiler systems, operation, and maintenance.
