Job Description:
A Junior Accountant supports the finance department by handling daily financial transactions, data entry, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting and audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations under senior supervision. Key duties include processing invoices, maintaining general ledgers, preparing journal entries, and supporting month/year-end closing tasks to maintain financial health and provide data for forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Entry & Record Keeping: Accurately recording daily financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and filing documents.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Processing invoices, bills, payments, and managing customer/vendor accounts.
- Bank Reconciliation: Comparing bank statements with ledgers to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting: Assisting with the preparation of financial statements (balance sheets, income statements) and monthly reports.
- Budget Support: Helping senior accountants with budget preparation and forecasting.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Month/Year-End: Assisting with closing procedures and preparing data for tax filings (like GST/BAS in some regions).
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (often required).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, Xero, QuickBooks, Excel) and strong math/analytical skills.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, strong communication, and ability to work in a team.
